It's McLaren's 50th Anniversary today, lets see some of your favorite machinery that the Woking automotive group has produced over the years, be it in Formula 1 or for your garage.
I'm quite partial to the new P1.

The Can-Am cars.
Although I will say, the P1 has to be the most gorgeous out of the new ultracars that are coming out.

F1, i know the P1 is great and it will be remain great for all eternity. but one cannot deny the glory and magnificence of the F1, there never will be something like the F1 ever again. my only wish is that someday ill get a ride in one.

The F1 of course, but my 2nd choice would be the SLR Stirling Moss.
And after that, a M6 GT Coupe.

Gene Sanchez is right, that's a LM.
GTR are the cars that actually raced (@ LeMans), they have a gutted interior with all the switch gear, and a few other tweaks.

It's weird seeing one in an actual color. I think that I prefer the usual silver. It really works with the bodywork and the turbine-style wheels.

I think it went under a lot of peoples' radars; the Stirling Moss is absolutely stunning. I think it's one of the most interesting cars produced in this century.

McLaren M26. I was a huge James Hunt fan before any of this Rush business. I always love the lines, the huge radiator duct, and the difference in tire sizing.
Not to mention it was a championship winning car...

When it first came out I threw up! Turbine wheels and a long nose with an F1 nose? It was horrendous but now that I have grown up and leveled down to a grown mans world.... That car is awesome now. I love it and I hate people who thrash its looks and power. It's an awesome GT car.

McLaren M6A because I'm a big fan of Hardcastle and McCormick. (And I know it was a replica, but it was super awesome)
Also, I love the McLaren F1 from the 90's

There are few cars, if any, more fabled than the McLaren F1. Of the hundred or so examples, none of them cemented the F1's place in automotive history like #o1R — In my opinion the single most precious specimen of the F1 stable. The short story is that #01R was the winner of the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Le Mans is the single most storied automobile race in the world and many cars and drivers have one over the years and there will be many more in the years come. So why was the 1995 race so significant? Firstly, as we know, the F1 was never built with the intention to go racing. It was just so thoroughly built that the transition from splendid roadcar to serious racecar was an almost natural one. Before it was a racecar the F1 was simply another rich man's plaything/status symbol, not too different from the much hyped P1 of today. Unlike the supercars of today, however, in which manufacturers refuse to enter their top of the line halo cars in international racing to rarely — if ever — turn a wheel in anger in the name of competitive motorsport, back in the F1's day things were a little different. McLaren was one of those manufacturers with such pride in their product that they were willing to put the company's single and best product, and in essence, their reputation on the line. Furthermore, this was the first time McLaren has ever entered the F1 at the glorious race. Through the proving of their client's racecars in other endurance races, McLaren was able to make their preparation for the 24LM and put up a serious contest for a class win. But it wasn't just for the class win, it was ultimately the overall victory itself. Even in the face of clearly superior prototype racecars, the F1 GTR was victorious. Yes, a "GT" car has won the race the year before and another one will a few years later, they were thinly disguised purpose built racecars that only had road examples built for no other purpose for homologation. But this is one of those once in a blue moon moments that GT-Class racer based on a honest to goodness roadcar overcame the prototypes. To put it in perspective, that's like having a C6.R beating an R18 for top honors. Quite the feat indeed, and most likely won't be repeated any time soon. Not only did #01R win for McLaren, it's sister cars dominated the results finishing very well in the final standings. The single most successful debut at Le Mans by any manufacturer ever!
#01R had it's on peculiar background to the race that set it apart from it's other racing sister cars. As the prototype for the racecar program, all F1 GTRs that followed were derived from it. Even the modified 1996 or the heavily-restyled 1997 versions can trace their development from what was learned during the time #01R was put through it's paces. As a research platform and promotional car, it was never meant to be raced at all. Finally it saw a one-time use when McLaren let a Japan-based racing team to use the car for their entry in 1995 race. Barely able to procure enough sponsorship money for the race, the final livery for the car rather dull; it's simple white lettering on a black and gray body paint gave the car an unassuming (if at all noticeable at all) presence on the starting grid. But #01R seemed to have a spirit like that of an athlete or performance artist who knew that this would be it's only opportunity to shine and show the world what it can do took off racing all day and into the wet and cold darkness of the night, soldiering on into the morning to be declared the victor some 24 hours later. With that win in hand, the 1995 Le Mans race became McLaren's third and final jewel of the unofficial (but honorable no less) "Triple Crown of Motorsport" making them the first and still the only racing organization to do so.

The one time I got to see the Ralph Lauren collection, the McLaren F1 was in it. It fitted perfectly with the rest of the collection of old Bugattis, Ferraris, Porsches and Alfa Romeo race cars because it is just as timeless looking. I'd take a McLaren F1 or LM any day. Long tail isn't for me though.
